Baby Monitor Safety – How Nanit Solves Common Safety Issues
Having a new baby comes with a whole lot of worries, from the big stuff (what’s the best way to deal with teething?) to the small stuff (how many selfies with baby are just too much?).
One thing you should never have to worry about, though? Whether or not you have a safe baby monitor. After all, your monitor should give you peace of mind, not keep you up at night worrying. And yet many baby monitors on the market simply come up short when it comes to safety and security.
Not Nanit. Nothing is more important to us than your little one’s health and wellbeing, which is why we designed Nanit to be the safest baby monitor on the block.
Just take a look at a few of the ways Nanit is light years ahead when it comes to baby monitor safety and security…
Baby Monitor Safety – Smart cord management
When we set out to create Nanit, we sat down with parents and analyzed their current baby monitor situations. Time and again, we discovered that many digital baby monitors and IOT cameras had cords, cables and plugs that posed potential safety hazards in the nursery. That’s why we specifically designed Nanit with an innovative cord management system that keeps wires under control and stored away from baby. Brilliantly simple and completely safe.
Baby Monitor Safety – A tip-proof stand like no other
Nanit’s unique stand gives you an unobstructed, top-down, bird’s eye view of baby in the crib. In our research, we noticed that a lot of parents were jury rigging stands in order to get a similar view, leading to unstable setups that could easily tip over. Nanit’s stand is different. It has weighted legs for maximum stability – in other words, it’ll never budge. And, Nanit’s camera and stand go behind the crib, never coming in contact with your baby or the crib. A 2-year-old in the 90th percentile of growth (aka baby LeBron James!) wouldn’t be able to reach Nanit, even if standing with arms outstretched.
Baby Monitor Safety – Bye-Bye, Hackers
Many parents can’t help but wonder, “Are video baby monitors safe?” And for good reason. You hear a lot of stories about video monitors getting hacked. Nanit, though, was designed to be unhackable. Case in point, we chose not to include two-way audio as one of Nanit’s features, even though many parents requested it. A two-way audio connection simply creates too many security vulnerabilities, and we hold ourselves to the highest safety standards. Nanit is HIPAA compliant, the same standard held by doctors and hospitals. Information on our servers is stored behind multi-layered hardware and software encryption with several layers of authentication required for access. Our IT infrastructure also utilizes AWS cloud computing. That means our servers are protected by top-notch physical and digital security measures, and constantly audited for compliance.
