The unique pattern on Breathing Wear products was custom-designed to enable the Nanit Plus camera to accurately track your baby’s breathing motion. The Nanit Plus camera analyzes subtle movements of this unique pattern using smart algorithms which can detect your baby’s breathing motion and alert you if no breathing motion is detected in their crib.
If your baby is starting to roll over, or if they begin to wiggle their arms out of the Nanit Swaddle, discontinue use and transition to the Nanit Breathing Band. The Nanit Swaddle can only be used with babies who cannot roll over on their own. The Breathing Band can be used on any baby, from 0-24 months, by using the appropriate size. Size Small for babies 0-3 months or 6-15 pounds. Size Large for babies 3-24 months or 13-30 pounds.
You can see the step-by-step process of putting Nanit Breathing Wear on your baby in our helpful instructional videos for the Nanit Swaddle and Breathing Band.

When using the Nanit Swaddle, make sure not to have too many layers of clothes on your baby to prevent overheating. Babies should wear lightweight clothes and not feel warm to the touch. In order for breathing motion monitoring to work properly, the Breathing Wear pattern must be in clear sight of the camera with nothing obscuring the pattern.
The Breathing Band can be used over most garments, as long as you can place the Breathing Band underneath your baby’s arms. It is imperative that you place the Band around their torso and under their arms so that it stays secure, otherwise the Band could pose a suffocation or strangulation hazard. Never use the Breathing Band in combination with the Nanit Swaddle.
